The Director of Development will play a vital role at Neighborhood Cooperative Ministries (NCM) by coordinating, leading and executing all resources development strategies to increase individual, corporate, foundation and in‑kind giving. This role will work in collaboration with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors to research, identify and write foundation, corporate, government and other grants as needed. Additionally, this role will work in close collaboration with the marketing and communication teams to effectively communicate giving and impact both internally and to external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Planning
  • Develop, implement and execute a comprehensive giving and stewardship strategy that supports the mission and vision of NCM. Giving initiatives could include, but are not limited to:
  • Annual giving
  • Capital giving
  • Planned giving
  • Recurring giving
  • Special events (Gala and the 5K race/walk)
  • In‑kind giving
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to enhance mid‑major and major donor giving and stewardship
  • Works in collaboration with internal teams regarding stewardship efforts to ensure appropriate acknowledgement and relationship building
  • Equip and involve other employees and Board Members in cultivating generosity throughout the organization.
  • Foster meaningful relationships with local stakeholders, community leaders and organizations to extend the organization’s presence and influence.
Relationship Management
  • Identify and steward relationships with key donors and prospective donors.
  • Maintain appropriate touchpoints and ensure personalized engagement that reflects the values of the organization.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Executive Director and other organizational leaders regarding development operations and annual planning.
  • Involve the Executive Director and board members in the solicitation of major gifts.
Operational Oversight
  • Lead and oversee all aspects of giving and stewardship operations, including planning, special giving initiatives, overall giving, acknowledgements, giving events and reporting.
  • Analyze the donor database with accuracy, security and confidentiality.
  • Utilize data and analytics to drive and inform giving strategy.
  • Maintain an up‑to‑date database by accurately recording all meetings, events, and key touchpoints. Ensure every interaction is documented to support intentional follow‑up, strengthen relationships and provide a comprehensive view of engagement.
  • Work with the internal finance and marketing teams to ensure proper receipting, donor acknowledgements and impact reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal communication and marketing teams to integrate giving and impact into appropriate communications.
  • Collaborate closely with internal marketing and communications teams to craft and integrate compelling stories into all internal and external messaging.
  • Ensure all communications clearly convey impact to build trust, inspire generosity and connect the community to NCM’s mission.
  • Provide training, resources and support to leaders and staff to promote a culture of philanthropy within their respective areas.
  • Prepare regular reports and insights on giving trends, donor engagement and outcomes.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • A committed and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience (5‑7 years+) in development, fundraising, donor relations and stewardship.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and nurture relationships.
  • Strong organizational abilities, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using and maintaining donor database systems.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to execute plans and lead initiatives from start to finish.
Compensation

$100,000‑$115,000 with 5‑10% bonus potential depending on experience.
