  • Provides direct patient care to clinic patients.
  • Examines, diagnoses, and prescribes appropriate treatment plans for patients. Follow appropriate standards of care for each patient.
  • Refers patients for appropriate specialty care services, lab and x‑ray and any other ancillary services that are appropriate for patient’s management and care. Reviews all lab and x‑ray reports for patients under his/her care on a timely basis and makes medical management decisions appropriately.
  • Maintains health records for all patients and provides appropriate follow‑up instructions through the use of electronic health records.
  • Provides continuity of care to patients and serves in rotation for after‑hour care coverage.
  • Ensures that patient and family are educated about diagnosis and the plan of care.
  • Participates in specified health promotion, education, and/or prevention programs as needed.
  • Participates in the review, development, and training of patient care policies, procedures, protocols, and standing orders.
  • Accepts responsibility for remaining current with medical and health care trends and information that impact the medical practice.
  • Assumes responsibility/accountability for delegating, directing, and supervising patient care activities. Trains, mentors, and supervises students and clinical support staff engaged in activities and procedures, as appropriate.
  • Provides professional perspective and direction in the development of the community health care plan.
  • Assists in maintaining an efficient, safe, secure, orderly, and aspectic environment of care for all patients and employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Duties 1 through 6 are designated as ADA Essential Functions and must be performed in this job. All other job duties are secondary functions.

  • Ability to efficiently carry out Midtown Health's Center mission statement and comply with its policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, co‑workers, and the public and to be able to demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance to HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to comply with all occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued under the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA).
