Entry Level technician position in a multi-level technical position structure. Incumbent demonstrates and applies basic competence in telecommunication systems installation, operation, and maintenance activities as applicable to NPPD’s telecommunications system.

Telecommunications Technician II

Journey level skilled technician position in a multi-level technical position structure. Incumbent demonstrates and applies broad-based technical competence in telecommunication systems installation, operations, maintenance, and trouble-shooting activities as applicable to NPPD’s telecommunication systems. The incumbent also demonstrates and applies advanced technical expertise at a detailed level in at least three of NPPD’s telecommunications system disciplines serving as a technical expert for installation, operations, maintenance and troubleshooting of the same.

Progression to this level is based on employee’s mastery and application of required skills.

Telecommunications Technician III

Highest level technician position in a multi-level technical position structure. The incumbent demonstrates and applies advanced technical expertise at a detailed level in at least three of NPPD’s telecommunication system disciplines: serving as technical expert for installation, operations, maintenance and troubleshooting of same, masters two disciplines at the expert systems level and serves as technical advisor and management liaison in several of NPPD’s telecommunications system disciplines.

Progression to this level is based on employee’s mastery and application of required skills.

Telecommunications Technician I

Associates Degree in electronics or equivalent military education/experience is required.

Previous telecommunications equipment operations and maintenance experience is desired but not required.
