We are looking for part-time van route drivers to provide safe and efficient transportation for students, 4-6 hours per day.

REPORTS TO:
Associate Superintendent and Bus Supervisor
RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM:
Associate Superintendent and Bus Supervisor
JOB GOAL:
To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district’s transportation program.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Part-time drivers, 4-6 hours per day
EVALUATION:
Annually based on job performance, effort and enthusiasm.
- Consistent and punctual on-site attendance at the worksite.
- Obeys all traffic laws and observes mandatory safety regulations for school vehicles; follows district procedures.
- Interacts positively with students and maintains a safe environment for all riders.
- Reports discipline issues to the proper authorities.
- Maintains a clean and orderly vehicle; checks vehicle before each operation to identify mechanical issues.
- Notifies supervisors of vehicle defects and follows an assigned schedule with hours to vary.
- Releases students only at authorized stops and transports only authorized students.
- Reports all accidents and safety problems.
- Performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
- Ability to problem solve solutions to various challenges.
- Self-driven and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must have a good driving record and be able to pass a DOT physical.
- Good communication skills.
- Qualified applicants will possess a current driver’s license. Norfolk Public Schools personnel will provide training and the vehicles for training as needed.
