Virginia’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is looking for a service-oriented professional to work as a Customer Service Technician at the Norfolk Military Circle Customer Service Center. If you possess strong customer service and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to learn, and want a career with growth opportunities, we would like to talk with you.
The selected applicants will handle various customer transactions, including communicating policies, procedures, and regulations; issuing IDs; processing applications; administering vision, driver, and in-car road tests. In addition, they will process vehicle registrations and titling, collect taxes, and provide other DMV-related services. Training will be provided to ensure success.
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, serves approximately 6.2 million licensed drivers and holders with over 8.4 million registered vehicles. DMV serves a wide array of businesses, including dealers, fuels tax customers, rental companies, driving schools, other state agencies, local governments, and non-profit organizations. - Customer service experience; proficiency with personal computers, computer information systems, databases, and how they support service operations; math and basic accounting practices (e.g., reconciliations).
- Ability to interpret, explain, and apply complex statutes such as the Motor Vehicle Code, and other laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; adapt to frequent statute and policy changes.
- Ability to analyze records and documents to reach logical and legal conclusions; work well under pressure during peak workload periods.
- Strong communication skills, courteous and professional in writing and speaking with all staff and a diverse customer population; ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Ability to complete required employee training and perform tasks at different workstations within the CSC as assigned; operate all necessary equipment.
- Must be able to work Monday–Saturday with varied hours.
- Experience or familiarity with Privacy Protection Act and DMV policies related to CSC operations is preferred.
