Unity Education Trust are recruiting for a Food Tech Teacher to join our education team and make a real and lasting difference to our students at our Pathfinder Douglas Bader School.
Are you in teaching to make a real difference?
Do you strive to support young people with SEMH in order for them navigate their educational journey?
Are you an inspirational Math teacher with excellent curriculum knowledge and bags of emotional resilience?
The Pathfinder Academy runs out of 4 sites across Norfolk. The sites provide Pathways of provision suitable for our cohorts of young people with complex social, emotional, and mental health needs who have found mainstream education challenging. The majority of our young people have been permanently excluded from mainstream, and some are preparing for an onward transition to a new school or specialist provision.
At our Douglas Bader site, we are seeking a professional who has excellent expertise in planning, delivering and assessing Food Tech curriculum. The individual must be dynamic, flexible, driven and enthusiastic in order to lead a class with the support of a TA. The ideal candidate needs to be creative in order to engage this cohort through a range of learning opportunities and experiences whilst supporting students who need the most guidance, help and support.
The pupils have a high level of SEND needs and require individual planning to further their educational journey and make progress. Most of our pupils have SEMH needs and are generally working below their current year group.
Applicants must be mindful that working at Douglas Bader can be challenging, at times, and working here isn't for everyone. However, we offer an environment where classes are small, a strong, supportive network of colleagues and CPD experience tailored to our specific need. This is an opportunity to effect real change and witness rapid progress. We are amazed every day by what our students are capable of and are very proud of the difference we make to so many young people.
The successful applicant will need an appreciation that many of our young people are working below their chronological age with significant gaps in knowledge.
It is always advised to visit us so we can showcase our students to you. For an informal discussion about the post please email [email address]
Suitable candidates will be able to work well under their own initiative and have high levels of resilience, excellent ICT and administrative skills and an exemplary attendance record.
Previous applicants need not apply.
We aim to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications irrespective of race, gender, religion, disability, sexual orientation and/or age. We value the individuality and creativity that every worker potentially brings to the workforce.
This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
This post will come under the requirements of the Childcare (Disqualification) 2009 Regulations and the successful applicant will be required to complete a declaration form to establish whether they are disqualified under these regulations.
Unity Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All applicants must be willing to undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including checks with Disclosure & Barring Service and at least 2 references which cover the last 3 years; for all our services we will request references from where you have worked with either Children or Vulnerable Adults.
Please be advised that references may be requested prior to interview for roles within our Schools.
This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English is an essential requirement for this role.
