Job Description & How to Apply Below

Ready for your next step in practice, where you can have a real say in the clients you work with, the people you support and the direction of the team?

NXTGEN is really pleased to be working with this client again. They're a well-established and highly respected accountancy practice that I've worked closely with for several years, and following a period of continued growth, they're now looking to bring a Manager into their Accounts team.

This is a really important hire for the business and a great opportunity for someone who wants more than simply managing a portfolio. You'll have the opportunity to build genuine relationships with your clients, take an active role in developing those around you and work closely with the Partners and wider management team as the firm continues to grow.

There's also a strong commercial element to the role. You'll be encouraged to get out into the local market, build your own network, attend events, meet local businesses and spot opportunities to bring new work into the firm. So, if you're someone who enjoys the client-facing side of practice and likes being involved in the bigger picture, this could be a really good opportunity.

What will you be getting involved in?

  • Taking ownership of a varied portfolio of clients and becoming a trusted adviser to them
  • Overseeing accounts work and ensuring a consistently high standard of service is delivered
  • Building strong relationships with both existing and new clients
  • Reviewing more complex work and providing support and guidance to the wider team
  • Coaching and developing Seniors, Assistant Managers and more junior members of the team
  • Working closely with Partners and the management team on the continued growth of the business
  • Identifying opportunities where additional services could benefit your clients and working with other teams across the firm
  • Getting involved in proposals, tenders, networking and other business development opportunities
  • Acting as a mentor and providing support to those looking to develop their own careers

Ideally, you'll be ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualified, with strong practice experience and the confidence to take ownership of your clients and team. Personality is just as important, so you'll be someone who enjoys building relationships, developing others and getting involved beyond the day-to-day.

In return, you'll have the autonomy to make the role your own, with the support of an established team around you. There's plenty of scope to build your profile locally, develop client relationships, get involved in business development and work closely with Partners, alongside genuine flexibility and a good work-life balance.

Whether you're already a Manager looking for your next challenge or an experienced Assistant Manager ready to step up, I'd be really keen to have a chat and tell you more.
