Position: Muddy Boots Volunteers – VH255
Location: Sheringham

Overview

Role:
Come along and carry out practical conservation work to help improve habitats for wildlife where you can lend a hand with physically active work and learn new skills such as tree planting and pruning, making wildlife homes, and much more!

The Muddy Boots volunteer sessions have gone from strength since the relaunch in June 2021. The sessions provide volunteers the opportunity to learn from the rangers, improve mental and physical wellbeing and the opportunity to meet likeminded people. We’ll even provide gloves and tea and coffee. We welcome anyone over 16 to our sessions, with children allowed to attend our ad-hoc family volunteering events – these are scheduled at various times throughout the year.

Check our events and activities section.

Each site hosts a regular Muddy Boots Volunteer Group to support the rangers with their practical management and conservation work. On top of this we are also looking for Volunteers to help with more ad-hoc projects, litter picking, events, site monitoring and more.

Responsibilities
  • Support rangers with practical management and conservation work across Muddy Boots sites.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects, litter picking, events, site monitoring and related activities.
  • Learn and develop practical skills related to conservation (e.g., tree planting, pruning, creating wildlife homes).
Time commitment
  • Warren Woods – Every Wednesday 1:30pm – 3pm
  • Sadlers Wood – Last Wednesday of the month 1:30pm – 3pm
  • Holt Country Park – Every Wednesday 10am – 12pm
  • Pretty Corner Woods – Every Thursday 10am – 12pm

About the organisation: NNDC’s rangers run volunteer conservation groups for people who would like to help with practical management work, wildlife surveys and other site improvement projects. As we are such a small team, with 14 sites to manage, the help of volunteers is crucial for us to be able to keep our sites consistently well managed and looking great.
