Overview

CYP Program Assistant — May be eligible for a $1000 incentive at 6 months and 1 year. This role is with Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR).

CYP Assistants work directly with children and youth, keeping them actively engaged, well-cared for, and safe while participating in the CYP. The CYP Assistant's day includes helping children develop social skills such as making friends and conflict resolution; making healthy choices whether it is choosing nutritional snacks or appropriate recreational activities; building self-help and school readiness skills; and exploring the environment around them.

• Provide care and supervision for program participants in accordance with DoD, NAF Component, and local installation policies, guidance, and standards.
• Assist in curriculum development and activity planning; implement activities and special events that meet physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs.
• Prepare and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas; inventory equipment and secure supplies and facilities.
• Promote safe practices and model healthy behaviors; assist with snacks or meals where applicable.
• Foster positive interactions among children, youth, and adults; use approved guidance techniques.
• Maintain communication with parents and employees; provide feedback on child/youth progress and program activities.
• Document developmental progression and concerns; participate in program evaluation using designated tools.
• Support compliance with DoD certification, national accreditation, and applicable laws and regulations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Complete required training certificates and maintain certifications or credentials required by Federal, State, and/or national accreditation institutions used as part of DoD Child and Youth Programs.
• Pass all background checks, including fingerprint and DoD/State checks; undergo pre-employment and random drug testing.
• Pass a pre-employment physical, provide immunization evidence, and be free of communicable diseases.
• Employment contingent upon proof of education if not provided at time of application.
• Marijuana is illegal under Federal law; a positive drug test may lead to withdrawal of the offer.
• Some positions require a one-year probationary period; participation in Direct Deposit is required; E-Verify may be used.

Resumes should demonstrate KSAs related to the position. The following are the levels and requirements:

• Entry Level (CY-1702-01) — English communication, ability to follow instructions, complete DoN training, work cooperatively, and build relationships.
• Intermediate Level (CY-1702-01) — All Entry Level abilities plus knowledge of child and youth development, ability to implement developmentally appropriate activities, interpret curricula, plan and organize, and six months of relevant experience.
• Target Level (CY-1702-02) — All prior abilities plus advanced knowledge of development principles, ability to deliver high-quality direct care, one year of relevant experience, and completion of DoD or accredited credentials or a degree in related field.

• Must provide a copy of your high school diploma, GED, or college transcripts showing degree awarded when you apply.
