Position PurposeThe Aircraft Mechanic Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging instruction in assigned courses, ensuring students grasp both theoretical concepts and practical applications in aircraft maintenance. The instructor also manages administrative tasks such as maintaining records, assessing student performance, and collaborating with faculty to enhance the curriculum.
Key Duties- Provide engaging and effective teaching in aircraft maintenance principles while developing curricula aligned with industry standards.
- Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and offers individualized support to enhance student success.
- Oversee administrative responsibilities, including maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
This position ensures the aircraft maintenance training program prepares students for careers in aviation, aligning with industry standards and contributing to the institution’s success.
Job Responsibilities- Teach classes on a scheduled basis in an inclusive, engaging environment that fosters student learning in aircraft maintenance.
- Collaborate with the Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, and Campus Executive Director to develop and refine curriculum, prepare course materials, and schedule classes, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom and laboratory environment; ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained for student use.
- Establish and maintain accurate academic and attendance records; submit attendance, grades, evaluations, and other documentation as required.
- Notify the Supervisor of immediate or potential issues and implement retention techniques to support student success.
- Complete assigned performance-based teacher education modules and participate in classroom observations and instructor evaluations; respond to student feedback to enhance instruction.
- Attend and/or lead in-service training sessions, faculty meetings, and other mandatory events for ongoing professional development.
- Assist in managing the department’s equipment and supplies inventory; submit replenishment requests as needed.
- Monitor student attendance and alert the Supervisor to absences to address retention issues.
- Complete other tasks and projects as assigned by the Supervisor.
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum three (3) years of hands-on aircraft maintenance experience (diverse experience considered)
- Strong command of both theoretical and practical aircraft maintenance concepts with commitment to ongoing professional development
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, compliance-oriented educational setting
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organized with multitasking ability
- Integrity, strong work ethic, and professionalism
- Effective verbal and written communication with emphasis on customer service in education
- Motivated, goal-oriented, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team; strong interpersonal skills
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
- Willingness to work outside regular hours as necessary
- Associate’s degree in related field

The compensation for this position ranges up to $33 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
