Minimum Qualifications
Nature of Position
- Provide professional development, coaching, and planning focusing on tier 1 reading and writing instruction
- Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information
- Design and deliver instruction for students, small groups, and/or classes assigned to achieve desired objectives that reflect the Virginia Standards of Learning and division curriculum guidelines and show evidence of lesson preparation upon request of administrator(s)
- Diagnose individual, group, and program needs and plan for the appropriate use of time, materials, technology, and resources to promote the development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills
- Evaluate students’ progress; provide students with specific evaluative feedback; maintain appropriate records and prepare progress information for reports
- Identify and communicate specific student performance expectations and document student learning gains using a variety of appropriate assessment instruments
- Differentiates instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Select, evaluate, and refine a variety of teaching methods and instructional strategies for the active engagement and self-motivation of students and improvement of student learning
- Implement discipline practices that foster a safe and positive environment for all students and staff
- Manage classroom procedures to maximize academic learning time, in order to motivate students to achieve maximum potential
- Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, administrators, parents, and community resources to support the success of a diverse student population
- Take responsibility for and participate in a meaningful and continuous process of personal professional development
- Comply with and support school and division regulations and policies
- Communicate with special education and classroom teachers, students, student counselors, and parents through conferences and other means
- Participate in curriculum development programs, faculty committees, and student activity sponsorship as required
- Provide support for the special education and classroom teachers in relation to the Standards of Learning, remediation, acceleration, and the district curriculum
- Perform related duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with the school/system policies and practices
- Model professional, moral, and ethical standards as well as personal integrity in all interactions
