Construction Specialist – Arbor Metrics Solutions, LLC

Base pay range: $26.00/hr – $34.00/hr (actual pay based on skills and experience).

Description

We are currently seeking an Environmental Construction Specialist to work on electric utility construction projects. This is a field position and requires experience with environmental compliance in land clearing and linear construction projects. The successful candidate will enjoy working outdoors, be comfortable working independently, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.

What You Will Do Regulatory Compliance
  • Provide environmental compliance and construction oversight on transmission site development and linear transmission line construction projects for electric transmission infrastructure.
  • Provide environmental oversight and compliance inspections associated with transmission capital projects and the NPDES and SWPPP.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations for wetland access, protected species, debris disposal, site control, and soil disturbance.
  • Ensure all field operations comply with permits, including road use permits, natural resource protection act permits, corps of engineers permits, etc.
  • Document pre‑ and post‑work field conditions to verify compliance with permits and environmental regulations.
Field Operations
  • Perform erosion and sediment, stormwater management, and pollution prevention inspections on applicable construction projects.
  • Interpret complex plans and drawings.
  • Perform duties in a manner that promotes and maintains good public relations.
Crew Oversight
  • Attend pre‑construction, constructability, and status meetings as directed.
  • Manage and oversee site development crews, including sediment and erosion control or BMP contractors.
  • Ensure crews recognize wetlands and sensitive area identifications before entering such areas.
Stakeholder & Public Relations
  • Monitor and report to project management on construction unit status and actuals.
  • Communicate daily with the utility client, contractors, landowners, and the public.
Subject Matter Expert Consulting
  • Assist in developing recommendations on future right‑of‑way maintenance requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Drive a company vehicle safely to work locations.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.
What You Need To Have
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in environmental science, construction management, building science, or a related field.
  • 1–5 years of experience in site development work, permitting utility construction, environmental compliance, or related field.
  • Solid understanding of NPDES CGP, SWPPP implementation and inspections.
  • Desire to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
  • Strong public relation skills and ability to interface with the public.
  • Willingness to work alone.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
What Would Be Amazing To Have
  • Background in electric transmission construction, pipeline, or utility field.
  • Knowledge of SWPPP book.
  • CESSWI certification.
  • Previous construction crew oversight experience.
  • GIS experience.
  • Knowledge of ANSI Z133 safety standards.
  • Military background is a plus.
  • Bi‑lingual speaking (English and Spanish) is a plus.
Working Environment

Work alone in an outdoor field environment; vehicle and foot patrol of utility power lines; remote locations as well as urban, city environment. Physical demands and travel from site to site, including walking and hiking on various surfaces. Exposure to noise, dust, grease, and all types of weather and temperature conditions.
