We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Engineering department. This position is located in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for a Test Coordinator. The hours are 7am - 3:30pm.

Essential Functions and Purpose (Job Description)

The Test Coordinator is the primary interface between the Project Team and the Quality Assurance Directorate in the scheduling and conduct of all required testing, IAW the T&I Plan. The Test Coordinator will maintain the Test Schedule, co‑organize and integrate proper test conduct throughout all stages of repair and construction, dealing effectively with QA and Customer Representatives. Responsible for the development of all test documentation to include test procedures, reports, test plans, and other contract‑required test documentation for repair and construction test program.

Demands (Education/Training)
  • B.S. Degree and/or equivalent, with a minimum of 10 years desired experience, encompassing Repair and Construction Shipbuilding processes and procedures.
Position Demands (Required Experience)
  • Proven experience in Propulsion Plant Systems, Centralized Control System operations, Diesel Generators and experience in managing ships, towards final completion phases, up to and including Sea Trials, Delivery, and Guarantee Period.
  • Possess strong Management skills in Cost Management, Scheduling and Planning, Personnel Management, QA and Safety awareness.
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with Customer and Regulatory Body requirements.
  • Preparing and giving briefs to large groups and individuals.
  • Effective Leadership, Communication, and Team Building skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and utilization of Production processes, Methods and Technology.
  • Meet requirements for obtaining a D.O.D. Regional Contractor Badge.
  • Meet requirements for access to US Navy/USCG bases and Controlled Industrial Areas.
Physical Requirements
  • Carrying, Lifting, Walking, Pulling, Crawling, Sitting, Crouching, Standing, Kneeling, Talking, and overall physical ability as listed in the original table.
  • Visual Requirements:
    Adequate visual acuity for repetitive office tasks under normal lighting conditions such as writing, keyboarding, operating office equipment, and reading documents and drawings in paper form or displayed on a computer screen.
Working Relationships
  • Reports to the Test & WAF Manager.
  • Professional working relationship with the QA Supervisor, Project Team members, Production Manager, and key Production personnel such as Foremen and Lead Men.
Principal Responsibilities
  • Review the work items to determine what tests and inspections are required for a given Project work item, including checkpoints listed in applicable NAVSEA Standard Items.
  • Obtain and review the Test & Inspection (T&I) Plan from NASSCO Quality Assurance for each Project.
  • Obtain and review any special T&I requirements from the government for each Project's work item.
  • Write and maintain a Test and Trials Schedule & Tracking Matrix.
  • Verify all Tests and Inspections for a given Project are completed satisfactorily and are properly documented in the T&I Plan.
  • Review the CFR database to verify all required test and inspection reports have been submitted and all accompanying required data and attachments are complete and the final tests and inspections are found satisfactory.
  • Submit Work Completion Certification Report input data and T&I status to the Test & WAF Manager for each contractor‑responsible work item.
  • Ensure all required DFSs are submitted and answered.
Accountability
  • On‑time meeting of Project Milestones for final completion of each Project.
  • All government‑required tests and inspections are completed on time and with a score of satisfactory.
