We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Finance department. The position is located in Norfolk, Virginia and we are looking for a Financial Analyst. The hours are Monday – Friday, 7 am – 4 pm.

The position will include the following functions:

• Supports the annual budgets, long‑range plans, and periodic forecasting updates.
• Prepares and analyzes financial reports for internal customers, senior management and parent company.
• Interprets detailed cost accounting information and exercises discretion and creativity on assignments of a varied, diverse and challenging nature.
• Assists in solving problems in areas where no precedent exists.

Position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or another business‑related field. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of experience in an analytical accounting or financial role. A professional designation or MBA is a plus. Previous accounting/financial roles for a government contractor are a plus. Strong mathematical ability to include algebraic formulas is required. Intermediate‑level Microsoft Excel experience is required.

Deltek CostPoint experience is a plus. Excellent analytical, conceptual, communication and interpersonal skills, strong initiative and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential. Willingness to work evenings and weekends when necessary is required.

Must be able to carry, lift, walk, climb, pull, crawl, sit, crouch, stand, hear, stoop, kneel and talk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in this environment is usually moderate.

Reports to the Director, Finance Department. Interfaces with all levels of personnel within the business units, accounting and finance personnel of NASSCO and General Dynamics companies, and external auditors.

• Prepares and submits monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reports to parent company.
• Supports the development of quarterly business updates and the 4‑year operating plan to include income statements for three divisions, company balance sheet, cash flow and backlog.
• Supports the development of the capital plan and assists internal customers with capital project authorization packages and determination of capital treatment in accordance with GAAP.
• Supports the preparation and analysis of the monthly actual expense versus plan management reports.
• Sustains the indirect department budgeting cycle. Works with budgetary owners to establish initial spending plans, holds monthly meetings to monitor activity and track variances, and re‑forecasts spending plans for quarterly business updates.
• Assists in contract estimates, completion analyses and revenue close.
• Supports compliance activities to include incurred cost submissions and audits, forward pricing rate submissions and audits, etc.
• Assists with analytical troubleshooting and problem resolution.

Responsible for ensuring that all reporting is prepared accurately, timely and in accordance with customer specifications. Responsible for providing accurate decision‑support data to management in a timely and accurate manner.

Regular, reliable attendance on‑site is an essential job function. A credit check will be required for this position.
