ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform ultrasound examinations to aid medical diagnosis and locate injuries, foreign bodies, pathological conditions, or lesions within the body.
- Perform non‑invasive peripheral vascular diagnostic laboratory tests and procedures according to established policies and procedures.
- Evaluate ultrasound and peripheral vascular images for technical quality.
- Provide service to support inpatient and outpatient imaging.
- Collaborate with Sedation and Anesthesia departments to facilitate timely placement of add‑on/urgent examinations.
- Assist and support new hire orientation and training.
- Educate patients and families.
- Ensure customer satisfaction (interdepartmental, community, and patient/family) with services.
- Participate in research projects.
- Maintain ongoing quality assurance.
- Review and maintain policies and procedures.
- Ensure continuing education requirements are met.
- Seek guidance from management for unusual or unanticipated circumstances that require deviation from financial/operational policies and standards of practice.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Registration or Certification as an Ultrasound Technologist by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) required.
- Registration or Certification as a Vascular Technologist by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) must be obtained within 18 months of hire date for new incumbents after May 1, 2021.
- Knowledge of ultrasound techniques/principles and procedures as well as operation and maintenance of sonographic equipment.
- Knowledge of PVL diagnostic tests, procedures, equipment, anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics of the arterial and venous systems.
- Ability to interpret and discriminate between normal and abnormal findings, diagnostic data, and report findings to providers.
- Analytical skills necessary to detect pathologies based on the knowledge of physiological cause/effect of diseases and clinical principles.
- Knowledge of computerized data retrieval systems and organization of laboratory reports, results, and quality assurance programs.
- Ability to analyze and problem solve independently.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients/families, nursing personnel, physicians and coworkers.
- Ability to travel to offsite locations required.
- CPR training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
- Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
