Location:

Norfolk, VA | Shift: Third (Nights)

Responsibilities

The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, supporting both independent and dependent activities of daily living, taking vital signs, assisting with mobility and ambulation, performing phlebotomy, point‑of‑care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, foley catheter insertion and removal, and complying with patient safety practices under the direction of a professional RN nurse.
Observe patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions and document accurately in a timely manner, reporting any changes to the nurse or medical staff.

Qualifications
  • HS Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
  • One of the following:
    Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services training (EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic), current student enrolled in a clinical program with at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT or PT, or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.

  • Basic Life Support Certification
