Position DescriptionThe Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) Database Administrator supports the SharePoint database management system and develops coinciding web tools in support of U.S. Navy headquarters.
Minimum General Experience10 years of experience developing and implementing Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) databases.
Minimum EducationHigh School diploma.
Essential Skills/Qualifications- Above average experience developing and implementing database maintenance plans.
- Above average experience ensuring integrity and availability of MSSQL databases.
- Above average experience developing web tools using , , and C# programming languages.
- Above average experience utilizing web tools for the management of SharePoint Portal accounts and other hosted websites.
- Experience with the development of Java scripts for data optimization efforts.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships.
- Strong ability to collaborate and problem‑solve in a team environment.

Location:
COMNAVSURFLANT (CNSL), Naval Base, Norfolk, VA;
Consists of travel up to a 50‑mile radius. - Sedentary work – exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Typing, communicating, repetitive motions.
- Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, view computer monitors and read. May need to view presentation screens and other visual aids in a virtual setting.
- Inside environmental conditions with protection from outside elements.
Must have an active Secret security clearance. Maintain a DoD Clearance, including review of lifetime events, OPM Security Investigations Index (SII), DOD Defense Central Investigations Index (DCII), National Agency Check (NAC) records, FBI name check, FBI fingerprint check, credit report check, local law enforcement records, education check, employment verification, corroboration of unemployment, reference interviews, and confirmation of residences and public record information.
Tasksand Activities
- Develop project/program plans and milestones.
- Participate in program technical reviews, status assessments, project status reviews and planning.
- Provide software and infrastructure configuration management services.
- Maintain change control documentation and validation as required in accordance with the CNSL Configuration Management Plan.
- Ensure subordinate command readiness and maintenance data is retrieved from various Navy systems, uploaded into the CNSL Portal, and validated for successful integration.
- Develop software upgrades and enhancements, modify computer code, and conduct software testing in SQL database and SQL software, SharePoint, and other programming languages and applications.
- Support existing and ad hoc data extraction and reporting requirements.
- Support Microsoft Office 365 Power Applications for end‑user support and collaboration efforts.
The annual projected pay range for this position is $104,533 – $126,735, with consideration based on qualifications, experience, job responsibilities, and geographic location.
