Position SummaryThe Release Train Engineer (RTE) is responsible for leading agile transformation efforts and coordinating scaled agile development across multiple teams supporting enterprise modernization initiatives. This role ensures delivery alignment with NAVSEA 03D3’s digital modernization objectives, optimizing delivery flow, and enabling high-performance team execution. The performance of this position is key to Raven Tek's performance on the contract, and therefore Raven Tek's mission to support the customer.
RequirementsEssential Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate Planning Interval (PI) planning, system demos, and SAFe ceremonies across agile teams.
- Coordinate dependencies, risks, and impediments across the Agile Release Train (ART).
- Guide cross-functional teams to deliver high-availability solutions (targeting 99.9% uptime).
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align development efforts with modernization goals.
- Monitor and report on program metrics aligned to NAVSEA 03D3 strategic objectives.
- Coach teams on agile best practices, roles, and responsibilities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives at the team and train level.
- Manage relationships and communication across internal and external stakeholders.
- Integrate cybersecurity and ISO-certified processes into the agile lifecycle.
- Contribute to digital transformation and agile process adoption in complex environments.
- Enter actual time worked, once complete, at the end of the day, or no later than 10:00 a.m. the following workday, and submit timesheets at the end of each pay period.
- Provide Monthly Status Reports (MSR) to the Raven Tek Program Manager by the deadline provided.
- Monitor Raven Tek email on a regular basis, at least 3 times per week, and respond accordingly.
- Complete required compliance training as assigned.
- Travel on an as needed basis up to 10%.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Comprehensive knowledge of scaled agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe) and agile delivery practices.
- Experience with Agile Release Train coordination, planning, and delivery.
- Strong facilitation skills for PI planning, retrospectives, and team syncs.
- Familiar with Dev Sec Ops practices and secure development pipelines.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of government or DoD agile environments preferred.
- Must understand agile development and cybersecurity compliance requirements.
- Must be comfortable coordinating multiple teams and managing remote or hybrid environments.
- Ability to drive alignment, resolve conflicts, and enable agile execution across teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in agile project management, Scrum Master, or RTE roles.
- CompTIA Security+ CE.
- SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) Certification, desired.
- Other SAFe or scaled agile certifications, desired.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain required security clearance.
Employee will be working indoors in an office environment with other people. Potential moderate temperature fluctuations. Typical indoor and computer related noise level, and typical office, paper, and equipment related dust. Exposure to video display terminals occurs on a regular basis.
Physical DemandsTo successfully perform the essential functions of the job, the employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; see to read printed materials and computer screens; mobility to work in a typical office setting. Ability to work on desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and may be required to provide recommendations, summaries and/or reports in written format.
