Angling Direct PLC is the UK’s number one omnichannel fishing tackle retailer now with 57 stores across the UK, a strong online presence and expanding across Europe. With annual revenues of around £100m the business was originally founded in Norfolk in 1986 and was listed on the London Stock Exchange’s AIM market in 2017.

Our purpose is to “Get Everyone Fishing” and our role is to provide the best products, services and expert knowledge to encourage anglers through their fishing journey in a way that is both socially responsible and environmentally sustainable. The business is currently experiencing strong growth having just released our H1 2025 results achieving UK store sales of +15.4%, online growth of +21.2% and overall, +17.0% revenue growth.

We have ambitious plans with continued new store openings and online expansion, and the role requires experience of retail/FMCG sales and operation planning, forecasting and data analytics to support in optimising company stockturn and providing analysis and reporting to support strategic business decisions.

What You Will Do
  • Data & Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyse sales, inventory, and customer data across multiple levels (market, channel, and category) to identify trends, opportunities, and insights that drive sales and margin growth.
  • Forecasting & Demand Planning: Support brand and supplier forecasting processes, ensuring demand-led forecasts are aligned with commercial strategies and business objectives.
  • Insight Generation: Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights and recommendations to inform strategic decisions.
  • Reporting & Automation: Prepare regular and ad‑hoc reports on sales performance, inventory, and promotions. Continuously improve reporting processes through automation and use of AI functionality.
  • Market & Competitor Analysis: Analyse UK and EU market trends, competitor activity, and customer behaviour to identify commercial opportunities and support range, pricing, and promotional strategies.
  • Tool Utilisation: Use analytics and visualisation tools (Excel, Power BI, Ometria, and AI) to create engaging dashboards and reports that support data‑led business growth.
What You Will Bring
  • Ideally educated to at least A-Level standard; ideally a degree in Business, Economics, Data Science, Analytics, Marketing, or related field.
  • Experience working with retail analytics platforms such as IRI, Nielsen, or ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with advanced proficiency in Excel and Power BI.
  • Experience working with shopper or customer data platforms, interpreting complex datasets to provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organisational ability.
  • Prior experience in retail S&OP planning, category management, or demand planning (retail or CPG).
  • Familiarity with SQL or similar data querying languages is advantageous.
  • Understanding of retail operations, merchandising, and stock management principles.
  • A passion for angling and/or interest in the outdoors is highly desirable.
