The Senior Cybersecurity Support Lead serves as a senior technical authority and team lead responsible for overseeing and executing cybersecurity operations, vulnerability management, and incident response support in direct alignment with Military Sealift Command (MSC) cybersecurity objectives. This individual provides expert leadership across cybersecurity operations, assessment and authorization support, and compliance activities, ensuring adherence to Department of Defense (DoD), Department of the Navy (DON), and MSC cybersecurity policies and directives.

The Senior Cybersecurity Support Lead coordinates technical activities, mentors cybersecurity staff, interfaces with Government stakeholders, and ensures timely, accurate delivery of cybersecurity services that protect MSC afloat and ashore information systems, networks, and operational technologies

Duties to include
  • Lead and coordinate cybersecurity operations support activities, including vulnerability management, patching, scanning, and incident response for MSC afloat and ashore environments
  • Provide technical oversight and subject matter expertise for Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs) and Information Assurance Vulnerability Bulletins (IAVBs)
  • Support cybersecurity incident handling, including electronic spillage and incident response coordination with MSC, NCDOC, ISSMs, and other Navy stakeholders
  • Oversee and support the use of cybersecurity tools such as ESS, VRAM, eMASS, DADMS, and ACAS
  • Review, analyze, and provide feedback on DoD, DON, and MSC cybersecurity policies, directives, instructions, and technical documentation
  • Assist with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) assessment and authorization activities as required
  • Interpret and apply DoD cybersecurity policies (e.g., DoDI 8500 series, DoDM 5200 series) to operational and afloat environments
  • Lead and mentor cybersecurity staff while coordinating activities across multidisciplinary teams
  • Prepare and deliver reports, briefings, and technical documentation using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Serve as a primary technical interface with Government personnel to address cybersecurity risks, compliance issues, and operational concerns
Requirements
  • Clearance Required : A minimum of a SECRET clearance is required for this position.
  • Education :
    Minimum
  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a closely related technical field
  • Certifications :
    Must comply with certification requirements identified in DoD 8570.01-M for IAM Level III (e.g., CISSP, CISM, or approved equivalent)
Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in information technology security or cybersecurity, including support to DoD or Federal cybersecurity programs
  • Demonstrated experience in information technology security within DoD or Federal environments
  • Hands-on experience supporting cybersecurity operations, vulnerability management, and incident response
  • Experience with DoD assessment and authorization (A&A) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes
  • Proven knowledge of vulnerabilities and risks associated with Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Experience researching, tracking, and resolving IAVA / IAVB issues
  • Experience reviewing and providing feedback on DoD cybersecurity documentation, orders, and instructions
