The main objective of this position is to oversee all aspects of the Port of Virginia’s Information Technology. Management of various information technology functions, including, but not limited to, business continuity planning, database, systems and network administration, information security, technical services, and applications programming and administration. Responsible for innovation and leadership in developing and implementing initiatives that support organizational goals and objectives.

Responsibilities
- Establishes the overall strategy and vision for information technology resources for the Port of Virginia that are aligned with the organization’s strategic goals.
- Oversees and provides strategic and tactical direction for the development, implementation, and monitoring of a comprehensive information security / cybersecurity program. Ensures information and data assets, as well as technologies, are adequately protected from both internal and external threats. Stays abreast of possible security threats, oversees real-time analysis of immediate threats, and actively works to prevent threats.
- Prioritizes strategic and tactical IT related projects in coordination with leadership. Develops strategic plans and allocates resources to projects based on priorities, timelines, and scope. Monitors performance metrics, authorizes / rejects proposed changes to cost and / or timeline, and ensures risks are mitigated / resolved. Reports progress of project developments, resource utilization, and production performance to executive leadership.
- Identifies, evaluates, and implements emerging technologies and process improvements that align with the organization’s strategic goals, ensuring the IT department remains agile, innovative, and responsive to evolving business needs
- Directs activities and manages performance of direct reports in support of terminal and business operations. Provides training and development opportunities to staff. Measures and evaluates staff performance.
- Oversees and manages multiple projects to completion and within budgetary compliance.
- Manages technology vendors, developing and maintaining relationships and ensuring service level agreements are being met.
- Communicates with internal and external entities on information technology issues. Collaborates cross-functionally on shared initiatives.
- Identifies and recommends new information systems technology and services that will improve efficiencies, processes and operations within the organization and ensures systems capacity meets organizational needs while assessing the cost and benefits to the organization. Serves as a liaison between information systems and other departments.
- Serves in a leadership capacity for all Information Technology Grant proposals and execution. Ensures grant requirements are met.
- Prepares the annual budget and ensures overall budget compliance for information technology operations. Discusses and reviews current and future capital projects.
- Contributes to the development, implementation, and maintenance of life-cycle asset management strategies that align with Port of Virginia objectives and minimizes the overall costs of assets.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- The Port of Virginia is a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week, 365-day-a-year operation, schedule and location may vary based on the needs of the operation.
