Minimum/General
Experience:
5 years of experience in network administration including WLAN; 2 years of experience with Aruba wireless network devices; 2 years of experience configuring PALO ALTO firewalls; 2 years of experience with Orchestrator management interface (preferred)
Minimum Education: High School diploma
Qualifications- Demonstrated experience administering wired and wireless LAN (WLAN) infrastructures.
- Knowledge of network administration including installing, administering, and troubleshooting network hardware (e.g., hotel Wi-Fi services)
- Experience supporting networks operating under an approved Authority to Operate (ATO), including compliance with security controls.
- Familiarity with network security policies, configuration baselines, and change management processes.
- Experience performing troubleshooting and maintenance on both shore-based and shipboard network systems.
- Experience with PALO ALTO firewalls and Aruba wireless network device
- Experience using network orchestration or centralized management interfaces (e.g., Orchestrator tools) is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve network issues during operational hours.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical staff, shipboard personnel, and leadership.
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Active Secret Security Clearance (preferred)
- Ability to maintain DoD clearance eligibility
- Position is primarily based at Naval Station, Norfolk
- Might require periodic travel within a 50-mile radius
- Configure, maintain, and secure headquarters network equipment to ensure compliance with approved ATO requirements.
- Implement and enforce network security configurations and controls on in-house systems supporting COMNAVSURFLANT.
- Provide guidance and distribute network security policy updates to SURFLANT ships equipped with hotel Wi-Fi services.
- Troubleshoot and resolve shipboard hotel Wi-Fi connectivity issues during CNSL working hours.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance checks on network equipment located at headquarters and onboard SURFLANT ships.
- Coordinate with shipboard personnel and IT stakeholders to diagnose and correct network performance or security issues.
- Support configuration updates and firmware changes on Aruba wireless devices and Palo Alto firewalls.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and security posture, escalating issues as required.
- Maintain documentation related to network configurations, changes, and maintenance activities.
- Support inspections, audits, and compliance reviews related to network security and operational readiness.
