This opportunity is open only to individuals who currently hold an active NATO Secret security clearance
, or a national Secret clearance and are eligible to obtain a NATO Secret clearance (NATO read-in). Engagement will be under a 1099 / Business-to-Business (B2B) contractual arrangement and is not a W-2 employment position

Role Overview

A CIS Technician supporting NATO Operations and Exercises within a multinational, mission‑focused environment. The role provides hands‑on technical support for static and deployable NATO Communications and Information Systems (CIS), supporting exercises, events, and operational activities.

The candidate will work closely with local technical teams, logisticians, and change coordinators to ensure CIS services are properly planned, deployed, supported, and dismantled in accordance with NATO standards and operational requirements.

Requirements DUTIES / ROLE Exercise Support
  • Support local technical support teams during build‑up, deployment, and tear‑down activities related to NATO exercises
  • Assist in planning and coordinating local exercise CIS requirements
  • Assist in maintaining CSU Norfolk annual exercise calendars and exercise support planning documentation
  • Conduct site surveys and assist in collecting lessons identified
  • Assist logisticians by receiving, storing, and controlling access to CIS equipment
Ad‑Hoc Events Support
  • Coordinate CIS requirements related to setup, deployment, and tear‑down for events and conferences
  • Work with change coordinators and local technical teams to assess customer requirements and provide technical responses
  • Assist in maintaining visibility and tracking of ad‑hoc event support activities throughout the year
  • Perform additional tasks related to the labor category as required by the Contracting Officer’s Technical Representative (COTR)
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Essential Qualifications / Experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in an ICT / CIS environment
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting IT users, desktop hardware, and software
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in an IT administration role
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting NATO exercises as IT staff
  • Hands‑on experience providing technical assistance across CIS equipment, including workstations, laptops, scanners, printers, and VTC systems
  • Background and experience with NATO static and deployable CIS equipment and networks
  • Working knowledge of NATO CIS policies, procedures, and organizational structure
  • Working knowledge of ITIL processes and procedures, including incident, change, configuration, and asset management
  • Experience using ITSM ticketing tools such as BMC Remedy
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint is advantageous
  • Working knowledge of current operating systems and office automation software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
