Requirements

Minimum/General

Experience:

10 years of experience developing and implementing Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) databases

Minimum Education: High School diploma

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience administering enterprise‑scale SQL Server environments supporting mission‑critical applications and reporting systems.
• Proven experience developing web‑based tools using Microsoft .NET technologies, including C#, , and related frameworks, to support database management and integration with SharePoint Portal accounts and other hosted web applications.
• Hands‑on experience creating and maintaining scripts and automation to support database administration, performance monitoring, and operational reporting.
• Experience developing and implementing JavaScript‑based utilities to optimize data handling, improve query performance, and support analysis of MSSQL server performance metrics.
• Strong understanding of database performance tuning, indexing strategies, backup and recovery, and capacity planning.
  Experience supporting secure database operations in environments with formal configuration management, change control, and audit requirements.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with SharePoint administrators, application developers, cybersecurity teams, and system owners to support integrated enterprise solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to document actions and maintain accurate records.

• Active Secret Security Clearance (preferred)
• Ability to maintain DoD clearance eligibility

Travel Requirements

• Position is primarily based at Naval Station, Norfolk
• Might require periodic travel within a 50-mile radius

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain SQL Server database environments supporting CNSL headquarters and subordinate command operations.
• Monitor database performance, availability, and capacity to ensure systems meet operational and reporting requirements.
• Perform routine database maintenance, including backups, restores, patching, indexing, and performance tuning.
• Develop, modify, and validate database schemas, tables, views, and stored procedures to support mission and readiness reporting.
• Execute data ingestion, validation, and reconciliation processes from multiple Navy and DoD source systems.
• Support data extraction and reporting requirements for leadership, inspections, audits, and readiness assessments.
• Implement and maintain database security controls in coordination with cybersecurity and RMF requirements.
• Support configuration management by documenting database changes, maintaining version control, and participating in change approval processes.
• Troubleshoot database issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize service disruptions.
• Coordinate with SharePoint administrators, Power Platform developers, system owners, and network teams to ensure integrated and reliable system performance.
