More About the Role

Leidos is seeking a System Administrator to support Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT), a virtualized data center infrastructure that delivers the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet, including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport.

• Operate and maintain virtual data center infrastructure and OS, responding to alerts, events, and incidents through triage to resolution.
• Conduct upgrades to maintain operational effectiveness for services and provide root cause analysis documentation in accordance with government procedures.
• Document daily shift activities in reporting and ticketing tools and ensure proper pass‑down of outstanding issues.
• Escalate critical issues from the monitoring team and ensure operating systems function properly and conform to security policies.
• Analyze system alerts from various sources within the enterprise, track and document incidents from initial detection through final resolution, and work with Senior Analysts to develop and apply business processes to ensure appropriate service levels.

• Install, configure, administer, support, and maintain systems, including associated hardware.
• Update and support systems by tuning performance and allocating storage space, achieving day‑to‑day objectives with moderate impact on the area/project team.
• Work independently on larger, moderately complex projects/assignments and assist other technical staff with tasks and assignments.
• Address complex technical issues using internal best practice and collaboration with colleagues, develop solutions, and review system performance logs to identify anomalies and troubleshoot issues.
• Validate systems follow cyber security policies and procedures, ensuring effective and efficient operation of data center systems, architecture, and application availability.

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 5‑8 years of experience; or BS degree (or equivalent) in Information Systems, Information Security, IT, EE, Network Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 4‑6 years of experience; or Master’s degree and 2‑3 years of experience.
• DoD Secret Clearance.
• DoD 8570.01‑M:
  Information Assurance Manager (IAT) II.
• Must possess an OEM network support certification and/or an OS/Application certification such as:
  • CompTIA Network+.
  • Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA).
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA).
  • Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) for Enterprise Services.
  • Microsoft Certified Professional + Internet.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.
  • CompTIA A+ Service Technician.
• Hands‑on experience working with DoD networks, including NIPR and SIPR.
• Ability to assist with planning and implementation of enhancements and upgrades to data centers/networks.
• Maintain technical expertise in virtualization, operating systems, and computer hardware/software.

• MS Degree in Information Systems, Information Security, IT, EE, Network Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Preferred certification:
  Azure Administration (AZ‑104) or Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS).
• Exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written, including long‑form business writing on complex topics.
• Entrepreneurial spirit with an ability to drive innovation independently.
• Ability to define and understand program goals and roadmaps, communicate status effectively in a matrix organization, and deliver projects on schedule.
