Job Description
  • Provide supervision to HVAC mechanics and trades/utilities servicemen in maintenance and repairs of all boilers, heating, air conditioning, and ventilation and refrigeration equipment.
  • Provide the mechanical shops guidance in the absence of the superintendent.
  • Operate and re‑program energy management control system in an efficient manner.
  • The position is designated “essential personnel” for emergency closings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Journeymen mechanical license and excellent working knowledge of all phases of heating and air conditioning, refrigeration equipment and repair of industrial air‑conditioning equipment.
  • Supervisory experience and ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of energy management control system, computer and field processing units.
Special Licenses, Registration, or Certification
  • Valid driver's license with insurable driving record.
  • Successful completion of a refrigerant transition and recovery course and tests.
  • Certified for Type Universal.
Education or Training

Level and Type of Experience
  • First Class level and extensive experience.
  • Work direction or supervisory experience.
Additional Considerations
  • Master mechanical license and several years experience in maintenance and repair of commercial HVAC equipment.
  • Formal air‑conditioning training and equivalent experience in HVAC maintenance and repair and supervisory.
Conditions of Employment
  • Facilities Management employees are considered essential personnel and subject to working during university closings.
  • Position is designated as sensitive. A fingerprint‑based criminal history check will be required.
