Industrial​/Fixed Maintenance Manager - Ready Mix

Job Summary

Manages the maintenance of fixed plant equipment, yellow iron and assigned personnel in establishing, monitoring, and managing proper maintenance and operating practices. Coordinate training and development of maintenance support personnel. Provide management and supervision of maintenance functions in coordination with Operations.

• 50%:
  Leads team in performing on‑site, hands‑on repairs and preventive maintenance of fixed equipment for multiple sites. Includes troubleshooting to identify maintenance issues and practices needing improvement.
• 20%:
  Provide technical on‑the‑job skills training for maintenance personnel to improve plant‑level skills, maintenance, and repair best practices.
• 20%:
  Coordinates with the Operations team for scheduled maintenance and repairs of fixed equipment, as well as capital projects. Provides leadership for Safety, Health, and Environmental issues. Develop and improve fixed equipment support and service to operations.
• 10%:
  Manage and analyze fixed department budgeting and monthly costs. Contingency planning to include maintaining critical spares where plausible. Performance management of maintenance personnel.

• Promote Safety
  . Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others to ensure all assigned plants have zero accidents and are in total compliance with all Vulcan policies and procedures.
• Organize and Plan Maintenance
  . Plan and schedule daily maintenance functions in coordination with ready‑mix operations. Scheduling of plant maintenance to ensure optimal performance and utilization of plants, equipment, and personnel. Needs to support operations in a way that promotes successful daily operations, reduces downtime, and resolves issues in a timely manner.
• Manage Employee Relations
  . Provide strong leadership, training, team building, and supervision to all maintenance employees in order to support the operational function of the business. Work cross‑functionally with HR and Operations to recruit new employees, provide merit increases, perform disciplinary actions, and evaluate the performance of employees in order to develop talent. Needs to be in the field to provide weekly and monthly support from coaching and training of all fixed maintenance mechanics and other plant personnel.
• Monitor Processes and Materials
  . Analyze production in coordination with operations and quality control to ensure that our customers receive a high‑quality product. Monitor operational reports to ensure adherence to best practices in processing, ensuring effective and efficient maintenance functions. Involved in complex issues that arise during the daily operations of our RMC facilities. Implement and monitor a preventive maintenance program to limit work stoppages, downtime, or other disruptions.
  
  Involved in the sourcing of materials and services needed to support all projects and facilities needs.
• Maintain Compliance
  . Build a strong safety culture to ensure the maintenance team complies with Vulcan’s safety, operations, and environmental policies and procedures. Manage the health and safety of employees to continuously improve Vulcan’s health & safety performance.
• Inspect Equipment and Perform Repairs
  . Manage the organization of the work of employees in the daily inspection and maintenance of the plant to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations to maximize production and minimize interruptions. Should run point on all large projects both onsite and offsite.

• Experience
  . Previous experience in managing and supervising maintenance and production employees at either an aggregate, sand/gravel, or asphalt plant operation.
• Leadership and Management Skills
  . Must be able to provide strong leadership and mentorship to employees, both direct and indirect reports, to motivate and maintain interpersonal relationships.
• Operational Knowledge
  . Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of ready‑mix plant equipment, OSHA regulations, engineering principles and procedures, and project management skills.
