BUILDINGS/GROUNDS SUPERVISOR A – Norfolk, VA. Department: HOUSING MAINTENANCE.

Location:

Norfolk, VA. Classified, Full Time position in the EEO category: G Skilled Craft Workers. This role is designated as essential personnel for emergency closings.

• Provide maintenance services, supervise staff, and ensure security is maintained in designated university residence halls and apartments.
• Maintain inventory of furnishings, manage the work order program for all maintenance activities, and document related activities to support a positive environment aligned with Old Dominion University and Commonwealth of Virginia goals and guidelines.
• Coordinate and oversee preventive maintenance and repairs across structural, electrical, mechanical/HVAC, and plumbing components throughout the assigned properties.

• Ability, knowledge, and skill to perform preventive maintenance and repairs to structural, electrical, mechanical/HVAC and plumbing components; knowledge to properly use related tools and equipment.
• Working knowledge of computers and university programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Lotus Notes).
• Special licenses, registration or certification:
  Valid Virginia driver's license and an insurable record.
• Education or training: NONE listed.
• Experience:
  
  Several years in maintenance related to dormitories, apartments, motels, hotels, etc., with strong supervisory experience.
• Additional considerations:
  License as journey or master in the skilled trades area;
  High School diploma or GED;
  Training in structural, electrical, HVAC and plumbing or equivalent work experience.

• Facilities Management employees are considered essential personnel and subject to working during university closings.
