Overview
The Fabrication Technician plays a vital role in the creation of Phantom Technology and Tissue stimulation under the direction of supervisors and engineers. In an industrial environment, technicians are responsible for assembling finished products using tools, machines, and their hands.
Responsibilities- Work in accordance with plans and specifications
- Read blueprints and technical sketches
- Report all defects/work orders to the Fabrication Supervisor
- Clean, repair and perform maintenance on shop equipment
- Comply with industry standards and safety regulations
- Efficiently manage time and meet specified deadlines
- Operate various hand tools and shop equipment (e.g., table saws, routers, band saws, lathe, thermo formers, wire binders, industrial belt sanders, oxy-acetylene torches, paint booths, palm and disc sanders, deburring tools)
- Fabricate proprietary parts and components as assigned
- Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications using measurement tools (calipers, height gauges, micrometers, rulers, etc.)
- Interpret measurements
- Verify specifications
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent attention to detail
- Able to read blueprints and technical sketches
- Work well independently and in a team; coordinate efforts with co-workers
- Strong knowledge of tools, equipment, materials, methods, and standard practices of the trade
- Knowledge of maintenance and repair of machine shop tools and equipment
- Ability to complete tasks on deadline
- Good communication skills, both written and oral
- Vision 20/20 (natural or corrected)
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management
High School degree, diploma or a GED and/or 1-2 years as a maintenance worker
Physical DemandsIn an average workday, employees may sit, stand, walk, bend/stoop, lift/push/pull, operate heavy machinery, perform manual dexterity tasks, and be exposed to dust, fumes, gases, and chemicals. Typical effort levels vary by task and may include lifting up to 75 lbs. Some tasks require prolonged periods of standing and operating equipment.
QualificationsPreferred — High School
Experience — 1-2 years as a maintenance worker
