Machinists; Per Diem & Travel

Genesis Industrial Staffing is actively hiring expert-level Inside Machinists for long-term shop work in Norfolk, VA
. This role is for seasoned professionals who can independently manufacture or modify complex components while holding tight tolerances and meeting finish requirements the first time
. These roles do pay per diem, travel pay, sign‑on bonus, and PTO accrual package.

• Independently manufacture complex parts from stock or modify existing components in strict accordance with drawings and specifications.
• Perform complete setup, operation, and troubleshooting of manual and CNC machines.
• Machine parts to close tolerances while meeting surface finish requirements.
• Apply expert knowledge of feeds, speeds, and machining characteristics for a wide range of materials.
• Accurately inspect and verify work using precision measuring instruments.
• Record measurements and inspection results accurately and consistently.
• Read, interpret, and execute work from complex blueprints, drawings, manuals, and technical documentation.

• Expert-level proficiency with manual lathes, mills, grinders, and saws.
• Expert-level proficiency with CNC lathes and mills (setup, programming, operation).
• Precision measurement tools including: OD & s, height gauges, depth gauges, calipers, verniers, and layout and marking tools.
• Advanced blueprint reading and dimensional layout.
• Ability to mark reference points and dimensions directly on material.

• Minimum 6 years of inside machinist experience

• Proven ability to work independently without supervision.
• Demonstrated experience machining complex components to tight tolerances.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to “right‑the‑first‑time” quality.
• Professional, reliable, and safety-focused work ethic.

• OSHA 10 Certification

• Current respirator clearance
  .
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical, background check, and drug screen.

• $32–$40 per hour (based on experience).
• $150 per day per diem – paid 7 days/week.
• Travel pay provided (to and from job site).
• Sign on Bonus up to $1500
