Registered Nurse (RN) – NICU & Emergency Department | Full-Time Contract | Norfolk, VA | $65–$70/hour | 12-Hour Shifts

Location: Norfolk, VA

Job Type: Full-Time Contract

Shift: 12-hour Day or Night Shifts | 36 hours per week | Every Other Weekend Required

Pay: $65–$70 per hour (based on experience)

Referral Bonus: $500 for qualified referrals (100+ hours worked)

Overview:

A top Virginia hospital system in Norfolk is seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) for full-time contract roles in both the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Emergency Department (ED). These roles are ideal for skilled nurses who thrive in fast-paced, high-acuity environments and are passionate about providing exceptional patient care.

As a NICU or ED RN, you’ll deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to critically ill or emergent patients while collaborating with an expert interdisciplinary team. This is a great opportunity to work within one of Virginia’s most respected hospital systems, offering consistent scheduling and competitive compensation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality, patient-centered care in the NICU or Emergency Department
  • Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions, responding promptly to changes
  • Administer medications, manage IV infusions, and operate advanced medical equipment
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other members of the healthcare team
  • Educate patients and families, supporting them throughout the care process
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation and adhere to all hospital protocols
Qualifications:
  • Active RN License (Compact or Virginia) – Required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required for ED
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required for ED and NICU
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required for NICU
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in NICU or Emergency Department nursing – Required
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and critical thinking skills
