Position Type: Full-Time (Monday–Friday typically 8-hour shifts between 7:45am-5:30pm)
We are a busy, patient-centered OB/GYN outpatient practice dedicated to providing compassionate, comprehensive care to women at every stage of life. Our team values communication, collaboration, and continuity of care — both in and out of the office. We’re seeking an experienced In Person Telephonic Triage Nurse (not eligible for remote work) to enhance our dynamic team and serve as a vital connection between patients, providers, and the care team.

The Telephonic Triage Nurse plays a key role in supporting patients who are not physically in the office. This nurse provides professional telephone triage, patient education, and follow-up care coordination for a variety of OB/GYN concerns. Candidates must have strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a warm, empathetic approach and a positive outlook.
Responsibilities- Provide telephonic triage and advice for obstetric and gynecologic concerns using established protocols and clinical judgment.
- Communicate abnormal lab, imaging, and test results to patients as directed by providers; facilitate next steps in care.
- Answer patient questions regarding medications, symptoms, procedures, and general women’s health concerns.
- Schedule appointments and coordinate care with providers and other team members as needed.
- Complete prior authorizations for medications, procedures, and imaging studies.
- Review and process medication refill requests, ensuring clinical appropriateness and adherence to protocols.
- Document all patient interactions accurately and promptly in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Follow up on outstanding patient needs, referrals, and test results to ensure continuity of care.
- Support providers and administrative staff with various patient-related communications and coordination tasks.
- Other duties not outlined here as directed by supervisor.
- Active, unrestricted RN (Registered Nurse) or LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) license in Virginia or compact state.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in women’s health, OB/GYN, or primary care.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication, documentation, organization, and time-management skills.
- Comfort using EHR systems and digital communication tools.
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
- Knowledge of common OB/GYN conditions, including prenatal care, contraception, menstrual issues, menopause, infections, and pregnancy complications.
- Strong understanding of OB emergencies (e.g., bleeding, preterm labor, preeclampsia warning signs) and when to elevate care.
- Telephonic triage experience.
