The ATF Quality Assurance Inspector’s purpose is to operate an internal quality assurance system as specified in the Tidewater Tech Quality Assurance Manual. This includes ensuring the operational and functional duties associated with operating an AWS ATF are strictly followed. They work directly with the Test Facility Manager and provide timely feedback when nonconformances are detected. Assist in providing constant oversight of individuals performing welding tests to ensure all ATF requirements are followed.
KeyDuties
- The QA inspector evaluates testing facilities in accordance with AWS quality standards and the Tidewater Tech ATF Quality Assurance Manual.
- Perform receipt inspections of welding electrodes, filler material, or consumables to verify conformance to purchasing specifications and document using the Receipt Inspection Form. Segregate welding electrodes and filler material by lot numbers.
- Perform receipt inspections of test plates and document conformance using the ATF Receipt Inspection Form. Segregate test plates by lot numbers.
- Enter approved material information into the Test Facility material database. Material will be segregated from other material and protected from environmental contamination.
- Develop and provide a yearly self-assessment of the Test Facility to the Facility Representative/Test Facility Manager, including an audit sample of student test files for compliance.
- Assist in annual audits of the Test Facility, covering methods, material, processes, NDT, record security, feedback forms, and other facets as directed.
- Assist in ensuring all processes meet reference codes and standards and prepare test documentation and test assemblies prior to scheduled test dates.
- Provide oversight of individuals testing and perform visual inspection of tests during and after testing; may require hours outside the normal schedule.
- Prepare test specimens for mechanical bend testing and perform bending tests.
- Perform any other duties as directed by the Test Facility Manager.
- High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
- Previous classroom/laboratory instructor experience.
- OSHA 10 certification (within six months of hire date).
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office software.
- Demonstrated up-to-date knowledge and continuing study of the subject matter.
- Option 1:
Monday - Thursday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm - Option 2:
Monday - Thursday, 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm
The compensation for this position pays up to $30 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
