Position: Staff Assistant (Industrial Security)

ACT contributes to preserving the peace, security and territorial integrity of Alliance member states by leading, at Strategic Command level, Warfare Development required to enhance NATO’s posture, military structures, forces, capabilities and doctrines.

The Resources and Management (RM) Directorate acts on behalf of SACT on all internal management and resource-related issues. It monitors the coherency of ACT plans to ensure that ACT remains an effective and efficient organization and improves continuously.

The ACT Office of Security has staff responsibility to execute, provide and coordinate security services to the headquarters, its subordinate commands, and to the NATO community at large, operating at all levels of command to ensure the security of its personnel, assets, and resources.

The Staff Assistant (Industrial Security) within the ACT Office of Security (AOS) is responsible for the security management of classified contract according to the NATO Security Policies and Directives.

Principal Duties:
  • Ensuring the application of protective measures and procedures to prevent, detect and recover the loss of compromise of classified information handled by industry in contracts.
  • Ensuring that contractors, industry partners or other non-NATO entities have been correctly checked for the ability to protect and use NCI in an appropriate manner to ensure its integrity, prior to accessing NATO Classified Information (NCI).
  • Acting as the conduit between industry partners and the NSAs for an area or facility to receive certification for all such facilities.
  • Working in conjunction with the Force Protection Team to ensure all Industry Partners are cleared to appropriate levels and have been NAC approved to share and receive NATO Classified Information.
  • Ensuring all ACT contractors are correctly processed regarding Industrial Security.
  • Leading the management and development of Classified Project and Industrial Security procedures, involving engagement with NATO HQ, National Security Authorities and ACT Project Officers.
  • Providing oversight of the application of Personnel Security directives and instructions, elevating risks and issues in accordance with ACT Operating Instructions and Procedures.
  • Undertaking any other tasking as directed by line management.
Essential Qualifications /

Experience:
  • Higher Secondary education and completed higher vocational training in security administration, criminology, public administration, industrial security administration, law, contract management, procurement, accounting or related discipline leading to a formal technical or professional certification with 3 years function related experience, or Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in that discipline leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 5 years post related experience.
  • 2-3 years of experience in Industrial security and classified contracts management
  • 2-3 years of experience in business or office administration.
  • 1-2 years of experience in security policy development.
  • 1-2 years of experience in the management of classified information.
Language:
  • English – SLP 3322 - (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing)
Desirable Qualifications /

Experience:
  • Previous experience working at a national or international government or military installation.
  • Experience as a Security Assistant within a NATO/National installation.
  • Practical knowledge of military organization missions, functions, and operations.

Personal Attributes:
  • The post-holder must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal tact and the ability to work in a fast-paced, changing international environment. The candidate must be comfortable dealing directly with individuals holding all ranks on a daily basis, and be capable of building rapport with customers and other stakeholders. Must be flexible in the approach to their duties, including short notice tasking, and be able to work independently.
