Embedded Integrated Prevention Coordinator

Summary: The Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC), Mid‑Atlantic Region – Naval Station Norfolk is seeking highly motivated individuals to serve aboard a Nuclear‑Powered Aircraft Carrier (CVN) or Large Deck Amphibious Assault Ship/Landing Helicopter Assault Ship (LHD/LHA) Command. The Embedded Integrated Prevention Coordinator (EIPC) will deploy with the ship and provide integrated prevention services both in‑port and at sea.

Duties

The primary purpose of this position is to collaborate with command leadership and serve as a non‑clinical trainer, ensuring delivery of integrated primary prevention programs that foster individual, group, and organizational health and performance to reduce and prevent problematic or destructive behaviors. The EIPC coordinates prevention initiatives, serves on the Command Resilience Team, and engages crew members in resiliency programs to maintain readiness for complex missions.

  • Establishes prevention activities at the command and unit level, determining goals, objectives, performance metrics, assessments, and milestones.
  • Works with command leadership and Command Resilience Teams (CRTs) to identify risk factors and recommends preventive measures.
  • Assists the command leadership in participating in prevention‑based research.
  • Reviews and coordinates primary prevention actions and projects across programs, ensuring completion within established time frames.
  • Develops population‑based and/or targeted prevention efforts to support unique unit needs.
  • Executes core functions of an optimized prevention system, including engagement, implementation, evaluation, and integration.
  • Serves as a non‑clinical trainer/educator, collaborating with the Deployed Resiliency Counselor (DRC) to assess training needs and deliver educational programs.
  • Facilitates prevention classes focused on building resiliency, adaptation to military life, and preventing unplanned losses.
  • Provides Fleet & Family Support Center (FFSC) training across Work & Family Life (WFL), Counseling Advocacy Program (CAP), NGS, and Sexual Assault Prevention & Response (SAPR) trainings.
  • Gives routine presentations to leadership on command prevention efforts and impact.
  • Delivers ongoing primary prevention training and education to sustain prevention capacity.
  • Deploys to deliver Departure, Separation, and Return & Reunion workshops.
  • Supports the homeport FFSC general and crisis response programs, including emergency preparedness and mass care when not deployed.
  • Assists the DRC and the command in coordinating special project activities related to CAP, SAPR, and WFL programs.
  • Refers Sailors for counseling or other services to the Deployed Resiliency Coordinator or the homeport FFSC.
  • Coordinates with the DRC in planning scheduled workshops, program briefs, and general military trainings (GMTs) presented on the ship and at other locations.
Requirements
  • Must pass all applicable records and background checks.
  • Must successfully pass the E‑Verify employment verification check; discrepancies must be resolved.
  • Position is mission essential; may require travel, deployment, or homeport service during crises.
  • Work schedule while deployed will vary; on‑call 24 hours a day for crisis intervention.
  • At sea, shares a stateroom in officer berthing and may join the Officers’ Mess as a paying member, with meals billed monthly.
  • Will deploy on board US Navy ships; durations vary from a few days to over 10 months.
  • Must complete a physical examination upon entry to duty and annually thereafter, and be physically fit for shipboard duty at all times.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must obtain and maintain a US No‑Fee Passport upon employment.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • From May 7, 2025, non‑affiliated individuals must have a REAL ‑compliant driver’s license or another acceptable form of identification to access CNRMA installations.
