Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-TECH) is a progressive and well‑established Department of Defense (DoD) contractor specializing in range operations and maintenance (O&M), weapons testing, facilities management, aerial, ground and seaborne target O&M, technical, logistics and other engineering support, systems integration, electronics and communications maintenance services, and a growing cybersecurity business. We are currently seeking to hire a Deckhand at Naval Station Norfolk (VA) to support a dynamic U.S. Navy Directorate specializing in design, research, development, testing, and evaluation of experimental watercraft for its DoD clients.
SA-TECH is ensuring performance and fleet readiness by providing full‑spectrum O&M support of specialized combatant craft, patrol boats, Special Operations Forces platforms, and coastal craft.

Typical duties include (but may not be limited to):
  • Perform as line handler and ship's crew.
  • Perform duties onboard involving basic seamanship.
  • Assist in preparation, preservation, and cleanliness of naval watercraft and associated heavy equipment, vehicles, as well as hangar bays.
  • Assist in basic facility maintenance support.
  • Assist in facility security and visitor control.
  • Other assignments within contract scope, as needed.
Work

Conditions:
  • Work will be performed in enclosed buildings, hangar bays, warehouses and immediate facility grounds and will include sitting, standing, walking, light lifting and reaching.
  • Work will also take place on the water onboard small vessels (20 ft and 90 ft).
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience performing basic seamanship duties or military service preferred.
  • Familiarity with small boat operation, line handling, and launching/recovering from trailers preferred.
  • Current Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation and may be required to pass a physical.
