DUTIESThe Second Electrician performs routine maintenance, repair, and operation of ship's electrical systems. This includes but is not limited to various types of switchboards, generators, motors, lighting systems, electrical deck cargo handling equipment, two and three wire direct current systems, and single-phase and polyphase alternating current systems. Assists and participates in the safety testing and maintenance of portable shipboard electrical equipment.
REQUIREMENTSMinimum Eligibility Requirements:
Must be a United States citizen of at least 18 years of age and possess and maintain:
- U.S. Regular Passport (also referred to as a tourist or blue passport) with minimum of seven (7) months of expiration date.
- Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) and/or Department of Defense (DOD) Common Access Card (CAC) with a minimum of ten (10) months remaining of expiration.
- United States Coast Guard (USCG) Merchant Mariner’s Credential (MMC), with a minimum of ten months remaining of expiration date.
- MMC Endorsed as:
Electrician or qualified member of the engine department of any unlicensed rating.
