Maintenance Worker II - Wastewater/Linework Crew

The City of Norfolk's Department of Utilities is seeking qualified candidates for a Maintenance Worker II in our Wastewater Division. The Maintenance Worker II is needed to perform general labor duties to include the maintenance of equipment, fueling equipment, unloading materials, and digging.

• Digs and refills trenches and other excavations; cuts asphalt and concrete; maintains lawns.
• Loads, unloads, lifts and carries tools, equipment and chemicals.
• Maintains and repairs underground wastewater service lines, cleans work areas, and performs related maintenance duties.
• Transports materials and personnel to work sites.
• Climbs stairs and ladders; bends, stoops, pushes, pulls, lifts and carries up to 75 lbs.; may stand for more than six hours.
• Requires knowledge of construction equipment, materials and work tasks.
• Requires ability to follow oral and written instructions.

• Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines. Level of knowledge equivalent to high school or equivalency.
• One year as a Maintenance Worker.
• The preferred candidate will possess one year experience of maintenance repair.
• Valid driver's license required.

• Work Hours:
  
  Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m.
  
  - 3:30 p.m.
• Work Locations: 1316 Ballentine Boulevard, Norfolk, Virginia.
• This is an 'Essential' position which means you may be required to work nights, weekends, rotating shifts, holidays, etc. in response to severe weather events and emergencies.
