What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)Facilitate individual non-clinical session and/or run small anger management and life skills groups (8–12 weeks typical).
Provide 1:1 mentoring/skills sessions
: coping skills, problem-solving, decision-making, communication.
Meet clients in flexible settings
: telehealth, in-home, school, and community sites.
Set clear goals with clients and check progress each week.
Document every session within 24 hours in our electronic record (we use Simple Practice).
Coordinate with parents/guardians, schools, and probation/CSU as needed.
Use de-escalation skills and follow safety steps if a client is upset.
Keep private information confidential and follow agency policies.
Join supervision and team check-ins
; be open to feedback and coaching.
Rapport with teens/young adults
; warm, respectful, and consistent.
Group facilitation
: setting ground rules, keeping youth engaged, handling behavior kindly and firmly.
De-escalation and calm communication during tough moments.
Clear writing
: short, accurate notes that connect goals ↔ sessions ↔ progress.
Time management & reliability
: show up on time, meet deadlines.
Cultural humility and professional boundaries.
Basic tech
: video visits, email, Google Drive/Docs, EMR basics.
Problem-solving
: you can ask for help and still take initiative.
Education: At least 20 college credit hours in human services, counseling, education, or psychology related field
Youth experience: At least 6 months working with adolescents (school, community, residential, mentoring, or justice-involved).
Availability: Some late afternoon/evening hours.
Background/clearances: Able to pass standard checks (including facility/DJJ if required).
Transportation: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for community visits.
Documentation: Willing and able to complete notes within 24 hours

CPR/First Aid & TB: Current or willing to obtain shortly after hire.
Nice to Have (Preferred):Experience with
court- or school-referred youth.
Part-time (10–20 hrs/week), with potential to grow.
Mix of telehealth and community visits in Hampton Roads (Norfolk/VB).
