YWCA SHR works across racial, gender, religious and social lines with organizations‑partners in all sectors to educate about disparities, advocate for change and provide resources and tools to dismantle oppressive systems.

YWCA SHR is in the midst of a rapid transformation from a well‑established direct service provider for women and families facing crisis to an organization working at the intersection of eliminating racism, empowering women and standing up for social justice, helping families and strengthening our community.

About the Position

Under general supervision of the COO, provide virtual and in-person crisis intervention counseling, individual and group therapy, and advocacy services to YWCA child and adult client’s ages 5+.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES Administration
  • Provide individual crisis counseling to YWCA SHR program participants
  • Facilitate support groups for victims of interpersonal violence working occasional evenings to accommodate client’s needs
  • Maintain appropriate and time-sensitive client records and clinical documentation in accordance with ethical and insurance billing standards
  • Make appropriate referrals to other agencies and provide advocacy as needed
  • Act as a resource person for staff
  • Attend staff meetings and scheduled in‑service training as assigned
Training and Supervision
  • Train and provide clinical supervision to graduate level, clinical interns
  • Provide clinical guidance and mentorship to Counselor and staff as needed and requested by the Clinical Manager
  • Prepare and deliver in‑service programs, education and training for agency volunteers, YWCA SHR staff, and community members on subjects related to the YWCA mission
  • Pursue on‑going training and education regarding interpersonal violence; trauma‑informed counseling techniques, community resources, and other related topics
Compliance

Maintain client case records within electronic case management, scheduling software, and data/grant management software as required by the agency and in accordance with ethical guidelines, policy, and procedures.

Additional Duties
  • Adhere to all YWCA SHR policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work or related human services field required. LPC, LCSW, or LCP required. Licensed Eligible will be considered as long as fully licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia by December 2024.
  • Must provide a copy of License, certification(s), Liability Insurance Coverage and all Graduate Level transcripts.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of outpatient style individual counseling experience working with adults.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of direct clinical service working with victims of trauma.

Other Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must complete the training program of the YWCA SHR.
  • Must complete a background check.
