Shift

Schedule:

12:00 AM – 8:30 AM, 3rd Shift, Friday through Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday off. Full‑time, 40‑hour work week with two permanent days off, overtime as required.

One‑Month Training: Projected start date – Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM before transitioning into shift hours.

Starting Rate: $24.2262 per hour / $50,390.5334 annual.

Job Summary

This position is primarily responsible for the maintenance and repair of all airport buildings, focusing on HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Essential Job Functions
  • Assist departmental personnel in building equipment maintenance as needed.
  • Replace HVAC filters.
  • Replace light bulbs.
  • Perform daily equipment checks.
  • Clean and restore airport facilities and equipment rooms as required.
  • Perform snow removal operations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned and directed.
  • Administer and adhere to all Authority policies and guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge and ability to use power and hand tools.
  • Knowledge of practices and materials used in building maintenance.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Detail‑oriented.
  • Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
Education / Training
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Trade school or equivalent.
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in general building maintenance.
Special Requirements
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and meet NAA driving record requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain eligibility for a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge as required.
Equipment Operation

Motor vehicles (snow removal equipment, forklift), 5K aerial work platforms, hand tools, power sewer snakes, field radios, and hand radios.

Physical & Mental Demands

Employees must bend, stoop, squat, push, pull, stand, walk extensively; climb ladders with tools, reach overhead, lift up to 50 lb., work in awkward positions, read blueprints and computer printouts. Reasonable accommodations are evaluated on each disability case.

Working Conditions / Hazards

Exposure to refrigerants, natural gas, high noise levels, high speed equipment, high voltage, acids, alkalis, lubricants, aerosols, and compressed air.

Driving Record Requirements

All drivers must be at least 21 years of age, licensed for at least 3 years, have the appropriate state license for the vehicles operated, and meet the following standards:

  • License is active and not suspended.
  • Employees or applicants licensed less than 3 years must provide a previous driving record to Human Resources.
  • North Carolina or Virginia driver's license acceptable if resident in that state.
  • Unacceptable driving records include violations listed below over the most recent 3‑year period.
  • Felony with a Motor Vehicle
  • DWI/DUI
  • Drug Offense
  • Eluding a Police Officer
  • Foreign citizenship with no historical driving record available
