Position SummaryStructural Shop Foreman. Hours 0600‑1445 with 45‑minute lunch. Shift ALL. No security clearance required.
Essential Functions & QualificationsThe Foreman leads a team of Journeyman mechanics, trainees, helpers, and subcontracted labor.
- BA/BS with 2 years or AA/AS with 4 years or High School/GED with 8 years shipbuilding/repair experience.
- In‑depth knowledge of ship repair trade, contracting & estimating procedures, production processes, quality, technology.
- Effective leadership, communication and team‑building skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft products.
- Lead on‑site deck‑plate trade, managing 8‑20 mechanics to meet safety, quality, schedule, and cost goals.
- Plan manpower requirements and communicate to General Foreman.
- Develop work schedules, daily assignments, and track progress.
- Manage employee performance, ensure compliance with CBAs.
- Inspect jobs, resolve issues, and maintain quality standards.
- Coordinate with other shops, monitor rework trends, implement improvements.
- Implement corrective action and disciplinary action when necessary.
- Attend daily production meetings and manage workforce performance and absenteeism.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Must be able to lift, carry, climb, crawl, sit, stand, spot, kneel, talk, hear, and go on vessels. Up to 70% outdoor shipyard environment in all climates.
Working RelationshipsReports to General Foreman. Direct reports 8‑20 skilled employees or subcontractors.
AccountabilityAccountable to General Foreman for efficient performance of trade personnel under budget, quality, manpower, schedule, and safety.
Additional RequirementsReliable attendance, travel, U.S. citizen, CAC or DBIDS badge, reliable transportation, 70% outdoor time, good eye/hand coordination, noise tolerance, ability to work in naval‑ship environment.
