Warehouse Worker Job Description
The primary role of a warehouse worker is to efficiently receive, store, and issue materials, equipment, and other items from stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.
Responsibilities- Receive and count stock items, recording data either manually or using a computer.
- Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.
- Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
- Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas.
- Label stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
- Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment.
- Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
- Provide assistance or direction to other stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard workers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Analytical and problem‑solving ability.
- Team player with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective security operations.
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 5-7 years of experience in a similar role, such as Material Handler.
- Skills in packing, inventory management, picking, and material handling.

Work EnvironmentThe shift schedule is from 12 Noon to 8:30 PM, Sunday through Thursday. However, currently, the team is working the day shift from 8 AM to 6 PM, Monday to Friday until the team is adequately staffed to transition to the regular schedule.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norfolk, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.44 - $18.44/hr.
