The Department Chairperson represents a dynamic and diverse faculty, advocates for the department, works with an advisory board of business professionals, recruits students and faculty, and manages department resources, including fundraising. The Department currently includes 34 tenured/tenure-track faculty, instructional assistant professors and staff, and the Chairperson supports a culture that values shared governance, inclusion, and balance between effective instruction and scholarly research.
The Department of Management is one of four departments in the College of Business, along with Accounting;
Finance, Insurance and Law; and Marketing. AACSB International accredits the institution in both Accounting and Business. In 2025, the college enrolled approximately 3,952 undergraduates and 278 master’s degree students, and the enrollment in the Department was 1,337 students. The Department offers five majors/minors:
Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, Organizational Leadership, and International Business. The Department also offers a minor in Business Environment and Sustainability that draws students from across the University. Graduate-level management courses are offered as part of the MBA program.
- Represent and advocate for the department with stakeholders, while promoting shared governance and an inclusive culture.
- Collaborate with an advisory board of business professionals to strengthen partnerships and fundraising efforts.
- Recruit and retain students and faculty; manage department resources and operations.
- Support balance between instructional excellence and scholarly research within the department.
Commensurate with experience and qualifications. Chairs are paid at their normal faculty rate for 12 months. The salary range is $215,000 - $221,000 for 12 months.
Required Qualifications- An earned doctorate in Management or a closely related field from an accredited university
- Eligibility for tenure and a current appointment at the associate professor rank or higher within the department
- A record of successful teaching, university service, and significant intellectual contributions
- Familiarity with AACSB accreditation standards and processes
- For teaching positions, state law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position
- Administrative experience at the college or university level
Generally 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (with one hour for lunch), Monday through Friday. Occasionally, the Chair may be required to attend events on weekday evenings or during weekends.
