Job Summary

The majority of the graduate teaching assistants’ primary duties are in support of instruction including but not limited to the responsibilities below:

Serve as a primary or secondary teaching instructor in a class or laboratory

Assist a faculty member with teaching-related tasks

Grade student assignments which require knowledge of subjects taught in a class or laboratory

Meet with and/or tutor students, hold office hours, prepare instructional materials, and assist during class and/or lab, etc.

Specific duties/responsibilities for these positions may include:

• Grading and providing constructive feedback to students to help improve their academic performance
• Tutoring and providing additional help to students outside of class
• Fostering a positive learning environment by encouraging active participation and respectful discussions.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

Approximately $1696/Month

Required Qualifications

Degree-seeking PhD student in the Department of Mathematics at Illinois State University.

State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in English as a requirement for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

Good academic and communication skills.
