Summary

This position is responsible for providing classroom instruction and support to Unit 5 students.

• Assume duties of the classroom teacher in accordance with school district lesson plans and school rules.
• Leading instruction in the classroom by following the teacher’s lesson plans.
• Instructing students on a variety of classroom topics.
• Building positive relationships.
• Motivate students to learn, and encourage classroom participation.
• Create a classroom environment that’s conducive to learning and appropriate for the students.
• Adapt to the various learning styles and social needs of students.
• Maintain order in the classroom and demonstrate confidence working with students with varying strengths and skills.

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the Substitute License through the Regional Office of Education (ROE #17).
• Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.
• Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.

The work hours for this position are based upon the schools’ hours of operation and the school-year calendar. You will have the flexibility to choose when, where, and how often you substitute teach.

Regular daily rate is $125.00/full day.

For retired Unit 5 Teachers, the daily rate is $145/full day.

The Long Term (more than 10 consecutive days in the same classroom) Substitute Rate is $170.00/full day.

For retired Unit 5 teachers, the long term substitute rate is $195.00/full day.
