Job Summary

The majority of the graduate teaching assistant’s primary duties are in support of instruction including but not limited to the responsibilities below:

Serve as a primary or secondary teaching instructor in a class or laboratory.

Assist a faculty member with teaching-related tasks.

Grade student assignments which require knowledge of subjects taught in a class or laboratory.

Meet with and/or tutor students, hold office hours, prepare instructional materials, and assist during class and/or lab.

For this position, Teaching Assistant will assist with one section of SWK 170:
Introduction to Social Work.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$755/month

Required Qualifications

Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook which can be found at Graduate Assistant Handbook.

Applicants must already be a MSW degree seeking student in the School of Social Work at Illinois State University.

For Teaching Assistant positions, State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.

Strong organization, writing, and communication skills.

Work Hours

12-2pm Tuesdays & Thursdays (SWK 170 is 12:35-1:50pm Tuesdays & Thursdays)
6 Additional Hours – Schedule TBD
