Farnsworth Group, Inc. is hiring a Surveying Technician I, an entry‑level position based in Normal, IL, available for hiring until May 2026.

• Assists in the preparation of surveying drawings.
• Prepares basic detailed drawings from field data and sketches using computer‑aided drafting software.
• Completes redlines, drawing modifications and basic calculations under specific instructions.
• Adheres to company and client standard CAD procedures for data processing, formatting, and producing drawings and sheet layouts.
• Maintains schedules and communicates progress daily.
• Undertakes company‑mandated trainings to increase skill and ability.
• Exercises limited judgment in the execution of surveying deliverables.

• Valid US driver’s license with a good driving record.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work in a mentor/mentee team environment.
• Ability to understand and operate current and new technology.
• Safety oriented.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Positive and collaborative work ethic.
• Experience with MS Office products (Word & Excel).

• 0–2 years of previous surveying experience.
• Basic understanding of land surveying and geometry.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD C3D, Micro Station ORD and/or ArcGIS software.
• CST1 (certified survey technician level
  1) certification.
• Interest in aerial drone and 3D point‑cloud scanning technology.

• Primarily an office position; may need to work outside on projects.
• Ability to work in various terrain and weather conditions and adhere to safety protocols.
• Ability to handle multiple multidisciplinary projects simultaneously.
• Ability to use a computer and work in an office environment.

$19–28 per hour (salary determined by education, experience, skills, and internal and external equity).
