Job
Activities:
- Operates, cleans & maintains surveying equipment as directed.
- Prepares clear, concise, and accurate field notes and sketches.
- Collects, processes, and downloads surveying field data.
- Maintains surveying gear and company vehicles.
- Follows FGI Safety Protocols and completes daily Job Safety Assessments (JSA)
- Familiar with traffic control operations based on field activities.
- Communicates with field staff, CAD Technicians, and project managers on a daily basis.
- Familiar with basic surveying principles such as leveling, traversing, public land surveys, metes & bounds, boundary surveys, and topographic mapping
- Interprets & extracts data from engineering plans & surveying documents.
- Uses math formulas, calculators and data collectors to determine positional information.
- Valid US driver's license & good driving record
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to operate in a mentor / mentee Team atmosphere
- Ability to understand and operate current & new technology
- Safety oriented
- Basic math skills, including trigonometry, geometry, and algebra.
- Ability to Travel (approximately 80%)
- 0 - 2 years previous surveying experience
- Familiar with Trimble Surveying Instruments
- Previous safety training (OSHA, First-Aid)
- CST1 (certified survey technician level
1) certification - Familiar with Metes & Bounds or the Public Land Survey System (PLSS)
Physical Requirements:
- Primarily a field position, working outside on projects of varying conditions.
- Ability to work in various terrain & weather conditions and recognize safety hazards.
- Requires lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, climbing, pushing, pulling, hammering, digging, and other physical activities
- Requires the ability to safely operate and drive company vehicles.
- Requires the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
