Overview

Lead Ultrasound Technologist - Bro Menn at Carle Health. Under the direction of the department manager, oversees and coordinates day-to-day accountabilities for associates in assigned department(s) while ensuring policies, procedures, safety regulations and Behavioral Expectations are followed. Provides support, training, guidance and acts as a resource to direct reports to maintain and enhance department processes. The Team Lead serves as a first line of contact for staff when problems with equipment, patients, or other operational issues arise while keeping the department manager informed.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in direct and indirect patient care activities including exam performance, coordination and flow, scheduling, order clarification, and second-look assistance.
  • Provide coaching and support to ensure high levels of patient engagement; share results with the team and drive improvements.
  • Recognize customer relations issues and proceed calmly and professionally; escalate as needed.
  • Coordinate staffing schedules and ensure adequate coverage; address staffing issues.
  • Delegate problems through proper channels and follow through to completion.
  • Provide instruction and mentorship to students and fellow technologists within ultrasound.
  • Motivate staff, provide feedback to encourage engagement and productivity.
  • Participate in annual associate reviews and contribute to development and performance plans.
  • Oversee department orientation and training of new associates; assess and adjust orientation effectiveness.
  • Uphold department policies; act as a role model for excellence.
  • Participate in hiring, correction and termination activities with confidentiality.
  • Monitor equipment and disinfection techniques to ensure safe practices; coordinate with clinical engineering/biomed as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of department policies, procedures and standards; seek assistance as needed.
  • Maintain and advance knowledge of ultrasound practices and equipment; perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure patient rights and privacy are maintained; stay current in obstetrical ultrasound practices and research.
  • Process images per standard procedures; promote safe behaviors, reporting safety events timely, and contribute to resolutions.
Qualifications
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
    • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Breast (RDMS-BR) within 18 months - ARDMS
    • Registered Vascular Technologist - Vascular Technology (RVT-VT) within 1 year - ARDMS
    • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Obstetrics and Gynecology (RDMS-OB/GYN) within 6 months - ARDMS
    • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Abdomen (RDMS-AB) within 6 months - ARDMS
  • Education:

    College Diploma in Sonography (Required). Related healthcare field work experience.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $34.87 per hour - $59.98 per hour, depending on factors including experience, qualifications, location, licenses, shifts, and compensation model.
